The Princeville Golf Courses on Kauai’s spectacular north shore have long set the standard for exceptional golf in Hawaii. The two courses, situated at the Princeville at Hanalei resort community, feature 45 award-winning holes of golf designed by Robert Trent Jones, Jr.
The 18-hole Prince Course is unquestionably one of the most magnificent and challenging courses a golfer will ever play, encompassing 390 acres of rolling terrain, tropical jungles, gullies, streams, and waterfalls. Ranked by Golf Digest as Hawaii’s #1 golf course, the Prince is the only course in the State of Hawaii to be recognized on Golf Digest’s 2007-2008 list of America’s “Top 100 Greatest Courses.” The Prince’s 13-acre practice facility includes a 1,200-square-foot putting green, a 1,200-square-foot chipping green, and three separate teeing locations that allow for different shots and wind conditions.
The Makai Course is Hawaii’s premier 27-hole layout and has repeatedly been ranked by Golf Digest as one of Hawaii’s top fifteen courses. The Makai is made up of three nine-hole courses that extend in spokes from the clubhouse, encompassing 200 acres. Each nine has a distinctive personality and scenic flavor, reflected in their names: the Lakes Course, winding its way around serene lakes; the Ocean Course, running to the rugged coastline and back; and the Woods Course, meandering through native woodlands. The courses boast an integrated design, so any combination of the three nines provides a challenging 18-hole round of golf.
Green fees at the Prince and Makai courses include a shared golf cart with state-of-the-art GPS, range balls and access to the practice range, as well as use of the facilities at the Princeville Spa (located in the 60,000-square-foot Prince Clubhouse), including private locker, exercise classes, weight room, 25-meter lap pool, outdoor whirlpool, dry sauna and steam room.
